The A-frame was popularized in the 1950s and 1960s, particularly along the east and west coasts of the United States, as well as throughout Europe. These houses generally featured a single-pitched roof, with the two points of the A continuing down to the ground, creating a symmetrical triangular silhouette. The interior of the home is optimized to capture natural light due to the extensive glass windows and the open-concept layout. In addition to its affordability and design, the A-Frame house was popular for its versatility, being able to adapt to different geographical climates and terrains. In 1955 an Architect named Andrew Geller constructed a modern A-Frame house on the beach of Long Island, New York. The two-story, 2,200-square-foot house was built out of simple materials, including glass, plywood, and aluminum. Its ceiling rose to 20 feet at its peak, lined with wide windows that gave views of the surrounding beach and sea. The house had two bedrooms and one bathroom, and its design was inspired by the early modernist buildings of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The A-Frame stood as a testament to modernist design principles, welcoming those who opposed traditional building styles. In an interview with ArchDaily, Geller described his design as an attempt “to capture some of the seductive nature of modern architecture and to express it before [his] fellow New Yorkers, who were not exactly in love with modern architecture". Though the house was eventually demolished in the late 1990s, Geller's A-Frame continues to influence modern architecture and design today. It had a distinctive roof line and was known as “Reese House”. His design attained International attention long before A-Frame house became famous around the world, when it was published in “The New York Times” on May 1957. Its significance as a master piece of residential design is indentified and documented in the organization, “Long Beach Historic Landmark Survey Team”

Reese house was originally constructed for a very large family. It was situated in a wooded and hilly terrain, on a two acre lot. It has many architectural features that make it stand out from other A Frame house designs. It has a large balcony that wraps around the entire house, with stairs leading up to the balcony from the ground level. It has an open floor plan, with huge windows that provide a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. The interior of the house has a rustic feel, with exposed beams, wood paneling on the walls, and comfortable furniture. The house also features a large fireplace, which adds to the cozy atmosphere. Despite its modern design, Reese House still maintains some traditional elements. The exterior of the home features a series of gables and eaves that give the house a stately appearance. The roof line is steep, which helps to protect the windows from the elements. On the inside of the house, the exposed wood beams and window frames provide an intimate atmosphere.

Reese House is still occupied by its original family, and the exterior of the home has remained much the same as when it was first built. The interior of the house has also experienced some minor changes, such as the addition of modern appliances and furnishings. However, the home still retains its unique character and charm, making it a must-see architectural wonder. The Abbey Resort on Geneva Lake, Wisconsin has the World’s tallest wooden A-Frame.
