Linked House

A Linked House is a type of house that has a common wall in the basement or foundation but above the ground it appears to be detached.

This type of house is also known as terrace house in Malaysia. Linked house is a row of houses of similar width and length. The houses are attached and share a common party wall. The number of units and length of each row is illegalized by the Uniform Building Bylaw standards which is about 200 ft or about 8-12 units in a row. These link houses were traditionally found in the Chinese community in the 1900s and also in various parts of Malacca and Penang.

This style became popular in the 1970s and 1980s in the Greater Toronto Area.
